The Lushious Laura

Posted: January 15, 2012 in Uncategorized

Well, had a bit of a wierd day saturday.  1st shoot was cancelled, then the electric went so my day started off all to sh*te. I was shooting my mates girlfriend in the afternoon and was a bit worried as she’d never modelled before and my head was a bit scattered after the mornings calamities.  Anyway Stu helped me out for the first time on a studio shoot, which was abit of a mare for him as we couldn’t use the big studio because there was no heating, so we converted one of the cells at the back and sort of made do.

As it turns out, Laura has a bit of a natural knack…so here’s some of the results..

This weekend I FINALLY get to work with the rather fabulous Chris Harrison of Grime and Glamour.  I’ve loved Chris’ stuff since I first met him at Dixies Dollhouse Burlesque night that I shot at in Jesmond and since then, he just seems to get better and better and somehow he is still only nearly there.

You can see some of Chris’ stuff, mainly hot chicks, at his website, www.grimeandglamourphoto.com or

check out his blog at http://grimeandglamour.wordpress.com/

Can’t wait for the image update at the weekend!!!

Ironically, as I work on a rather good set of studio pictures, I have to announce I have to cut back on my studio space.  It has been ace but finances and time dictated that I can’t unfortunately keep it going.  On the plus side, this does mean that i can concentrate on the more active side of my photography which to be fair is what I’m better at.

so..what to expect – well for kick off, between now and the end of January, expect to see lots and lots of requests for volunteers for studio based shoots I’ve been wanting to do, so keep your eyes on the facebook page.  If you have a voucher from Head2Toe (for all your dancing needs), you can still use it, just get in touch as normal using the mobile number on there. Miss Barbara is kindly keeping some space on a  ’pay as you go’ kinda setup.

Now it’s time to push some of my sports stuff and make it massive and then see where I stand, or sit, rocking back and forth, dribbling!

I’ll keep you posted.

I’m not even going to bother attempting to catch up my blog, all I’ll say is, 2012 is here, so lets get going, start a fresh with some nice new blog antics etc etc.

See you all soon and happy new year

Well, to be more accurate, she broke the studio duck.  Yup, Emily was the first model to grace the floors of Carve Photography’s new home at what I call ‘The Old Jail Studios’  in Bedlington.

I expect the Studio to be properly up and running in the next 2 weeks once i’ve sorted out some bits and bobs…most importantly, a kettle!

Emily was a great model for never having done it before…probably with a little help from Aunty Michelle (makes you sound old) who did a little bit of directing. Anyway, here’s a little look at some of the shots from today.

Thanks also to Motocross World for supplying the MX gear… yes boys, there was actually some stuff in the pictures, like boots and a helmet and some other cool stuff.

Firstly…thanks to Rochelle for making me a target for wasps, bees and any other insects that like sugary stuff!!!

Quiet but good day at PJMX today, so thought i’d try and test my camera and flash ability with the old dirt scooters with some varying results..  here’s examples…

Wooohahaha some exciting stuff…. I’m busy in the process of setting up a new studio thanks to Barbara hunter of hunter theatre arts in Bedlington. The studio isnt huge but does contain some rather unique features…. Pictures to come later next week when its all set up.

Well its been far too long since I updated this thing.  I’ve had to get some proper gainful employment to subsidise the photography a bit so am a bit wrecked at the minute.

Since last time i’ve had a few more bits published in local and national papers (T+MX mainly).

Anyway, this weekend I was allowed to borrow a studio off my mate in Newcastle, well its in his building but belongs to someone else (which turned into a mini drama..but nowt to do with me).  After a couple of cancellations I didn’t want to waste the studio time so got on the old dog and spoke to Sophie.  Sophie, if you don’t know her, can be found wandering around the motocross paddocks of Great Britain, normally sporting the latest fabric offerings and handbags from Fox… you’ll see her, she’s about a foot taller than everyone else.

Here’s a couple of shots from the shoot anyway, turned out quite well considering i’m a little out of practice and Sophie hasn’t done it properly before..  Enjoy.

I’ll not even bother updating everything, it’ll take ages and it’s not that exciting.

Finally managed to get some stuff into a newspaper, well a few newspapers including a full pager in T+MX, will get a pic and post soon.

On the other side of things, Triathlon season in Northumberland has kicked off again and the second installment of the Tri-Northumberland events took place at Ashingtons QE2.  I have to say, the admiration i have for normal triathletes is big, but when you see paratriathletes, you look and there infront of you is an example of exactly what can be achieved and overcome…

If you ever find yourself stuck on a Sunday morning, why not check out TriNorthumberlands website and test your skills in the water, on the road and on a bike!

Ashington Sprint Triathlon kicked off 2011′s series of events which have grown from strength to strength over recent years, with 2 of the events now being World and European qualifiers…not bad!

The Ashington Sprint Triathlon kicked off with a bit of a dip in the pool at Ashington leisure centre, followed by a brisk bike ride up and around Bothal, including the dreaded Bothal Bank..twice. The a run finishing up at the transition area in the Park….SIMPLE!

It was good to see a diverse level of entrants from the serious to the first timers and everything in between.

Well done to Barry and the guys who organised everything and even more well done to all those who completed the event.

If you fancy getting involved, check out TriNorthumberland on Facebook or visit www.trinorthumberland.co.uk it really is suitable for everyone.

Also I must add a big thanks to Simon Foster who helped me out by catching a few snaps of the transition area and swim while I ambushed the bikes near Bothal. Some of Simons images are included in the slideshow below. More of his work can be seen here http://www.facebook.com/pages/Simon-Foster-P-H-O-T-O-G-R-A-P-H-E-R/161209320583429

Here’s a few snaps from the day.
